Tiverton Fire  Department

Tiverton  is  located on the  beautiful  Sakonnet  River,  also known  as  the  East  Bay  of  Rhode Island, The Fire Department operates out of  3  stations:

85  Main Road (route 138)-Station  2      Engine 2   Rescue 2  

Chief Robert D. Lloyd and his  staff and  Fire  Prevention Office

 

Crandall Road-Station 3       Engine 3   Squad  1   and  Marine 1

 

East Road - Station 4   Engine  1  and  4  Rescue  1  and  Tanker  1

On Tuesday  May 22, 2007  Tiverton  Firefighters  responded to a  still alarm to the  building at 1493  Bulgarmarsh Road. Upon  arrival of  off duty  firefighters  heavy  smoke and  fire  was  visible, upon arrival of  Chief  Robert LLoyd called a  second  alarm and  requested a  out of  town  Ladder  trucks and  mutual aid   to  attack  this  dangerous  fire. It  was  contained   several hours  later with  extensive  damege,  the  fire  had  gain  advanced  headway, Owners of the  saw  business  delayed  calling  the  Fire  Department and  attemptged  to  extinguish  it  themselves. the  older  building   is  approximately  200 years old  and  was  formerly  a  stage  coach  stopover, volunteer  fire  station,  bait  shop and  currently a  saw  sales  and  repair  shop..
